Day 10 - our last day! We have had an amazing experience, made so much richer because it was shared with our traveling companions! Never a dull moment with the Martin clan. We are already planning a Greek Geek reunion in the Spring!
We woke this morning off the island of Patmos, anchored in the port of Skala. We tendered to shore and boarded a bus to visit the Cave of St. John, where John experienced visions and wrote the book of Revelations while in exile. The cave is now a beautiful but tiny Greek Orthodox church. How humbling to stand where John once lived and labored.
We traveled from the cave to the Monastery of St. John in Chora. The monastery is home to the Theological School of Patmos, established in 1713 and still attracting students from all over the world. There is a wonderful museum housing many artifacts and old icons, chalices and vestments.
After visiting the monastery, we were led on a ramble through the winding and narrow streets of Skala. The town is a popular retreat for celebrities such as Richard Gere and David Bowie.
We visited a 300 year old house full of family artifacts. The resident is 94 years old and quite a character!

We enjoyed the unique doorknockers and architectural elements
After we toured the town, we stopped at a Greek tavern for mezes and Greek dancing. A good time was had by all....
Back to the Riviera, packing, and a get-together for a group photo in our prizes from our Trivia efforts. We were able to score tshirts for each of us!
We met for our "Last Supper" - a bitter-sweet meal. We are so happy for our time together, our "Dear Abby" table topics, our Trivia mastery, our wonderful adventures in a beautiful land, for shared laughter, and new friendships. We look forward to our coming reunion and future adventures.
