July 13, 2017.   Wilma picked us up and took us to Franklin to conduct a little business this morning.  Toured around, visited the cemetery (Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, Uncle John, JD & Jimmy Dills) - will go back later with a wreath and do a little clean up.  Great conversation, memories and funny stories. Visited Cullasaja Gorge near Highlands, North Carolina this afternoon via the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway.  A VERY narrow and winding road, but very pretty scenery.  Highlands is a resort town in the mountains near Franklin and a fun place to visit.   Walked behind a waterfall at Dry Falls - link to a video is https://youtu.be/MxDtC52ugQw.  Sure was refreshing to have the mist falling on us - Baxter really enjoyed the cool, moist air.  Water flow was a little less thank in the video, but still a lot of fun.

Saw lots of wild rhodies on the drive up - there is a certain species that blooms in July in the higher elevations.  They made huge thickets in the woods.

Shared a wonderful brie/bacon/fig jam/apple panini at the Mountain Fresh Grocery in Highlands, and then shared a cup of key lime gelatto (we're officially old so we can do that!).  Twisty, windy drive back to Franklin and the motor home, and a quiet evening.

Headed out for Smokemont tomorrow with cousin Wilma and her husband JC, to locate the Watson and Conner cemeteries.  Also found a listing for a Husky cemetery (not the dogs, but related family Husky) and will try to find that as well.  Will be a fun day.
